Insights into what works in online video and what doesn't come from Mediacorp's Yvonne Lim at Digital Media Asia next month.

Lim (pictured) set up CNA Insider at Singapore-based Mediacorp in 2016 to target the channel's documentaries and original made-for-digital feature stories at a digital and social media audience.

Now supervising editor of CNA Insider, her first move to produce broadcast content was to produce a weekly current affairs series for Channel NewsAsia after 20 years in print media.

She is one of several speakers at the Hong Kong event with a focus on social media. Another is Ian Yee of Star Media's maverick youth portal R.AGE in Malaysia. Yee is a news editor and executive producer behind the multiple award-winning multimedia news platform, and manages a team of journalists, video production staff, a number of news platforms, social media accounts, projects, events and campaigns.

First day of Digital Media is packed with masterclass action. Talking about product development in the newsroom is Fairfax Media (Australia) chief product officer Jess Ross.

She will cover the role of product, and key principles for successful product development - how to bring product development into the newsroom, using audience insights to build new products, practical ways to tackle product strategy alongside continuous agile delivery, and helping the newsroom understand and feed into product backlogs and longer-term roadmaps.

Grig Davidovitz of RGB Media is back to lead a course on immediate strategies to improve traffic and revenue, while aapplications for a masterclasse on Blockchain reporting and the Facebook Journalism Project news day at the LiangYi Museum in Sheung Wan, have now closed.

Digital Media Asia is at the Mira Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui from November 7-9. Email Wilson Leong (wilson.leong@wan-ifra.org) for details.
