Ahead of the footy season kick-off, News News Corp Australia has upped the pace of co-promotions for its Kayo Sports streaming service with bundled subscriptions.

News is also reported to be planning its next streaming service, likely to pitch drama and entertainment to those unwilling to pay for a Foxtel subscription.

Kayo - which is part of News' two-thirds-owned Foxtel pay-TV business - has already been widely promoted in its Australian metro tabloids.

Now packages which combine a Kayo streaming with a digital news subscription are being offered across the group's metro and regional mastheads in a campaign by The Works and Big Red aimed at AFL and NRL fans.

Earlier this month, News global chief executive Robert Thomson told a Q2 results briefing that Kayo Sports was approaching the "peak selling season" with an audience already at 115,000 subscribers.

Bundled subscriptions are pitched at $30 per month "for the first 12 months" with a minimum cost of $360.
