The Indian unit of Dutch control and automation specialist QIPC is over the moon over a major new order Times of India, on the heels of others from Malayala Manorama and The Printers House.

Regional managing director Rakesh Dave called the new order from Times of India publisher Bennett, Coleman & Co, "one of the most important hits in India". Subject is a double-width, one-around manroland Goss Regioman press in Bangalore, which is to be equipped with QI's IDS-3D closed-loop colour density system.

He can't ignore the "golden opportunities" at the printer of the world's largest English-language newspaper. "Within the Times of India group there are many manroland presses," he says.

"Our market share in India will increase again and everyone in the country can see that the market is ready for our IDS-3D system."

QIPC will install 16 cameras for the closed-loop colour control system in Bangalore and add another 12 mRC-3D cameras for cut-off control.

The order follows previous cooperations, the IDS-3D system having already been installed in Sahibabad. "This is one of the most important hits ever for QIPC in India," says Dave. "Most of the major newspaper groups are located in the south of the country. This installation will have a major impact on all these groups."

-At Malayala Manorama in Palakkad, a four-camera mRC-3D system for colour control and cut-off control is being installed. Deputy general manager Shibu George says working with QIPC since 2011 gave them confidence.

-Finally, QIPC is also providing colour register and cut-off control for a new TPH Orient press at The Printers House, publisher of the Deccan Herald, Prajavani, Sudha and Mayura, which have a combined print readership of 2.8 million. Four mRC-3D cameras for colour register and two for cut-off control will be installed.
