Include ABC and SBS in mandatory scheme, but 'not at any cost'

Support from the Australian Greens and Centre Alliance senator Stirling Griff for the ACCC's proposed mandatory code for digital platforms will depend on the ABC and SBS being included among media operations entitled to be compensated for use of their content.

Former ACCC chairman Alan Fels - who is chairman of the Public Interest Journalism Initiative chairman - says in The Age that the public broadcasters should be included in the code, but says this is "less important than getting the legislation through parliament".
