Baldwin Technology has formally announced the agreement (reported in GXpress in July) which makes Plunkett and Johnson its service and sales representative in Australia and New Zealand. Plunkett and Johnson was the agent for Oxy-Dry until soon after its acquisition by Baldwin, and was well regarded for its technical and customer support. Baldwin Graphic Equipment managing director Peter Tkachuk says Plunkett and Johnson serve all the market segments supplied by the Sydney-based subsidiary, including sheetfed, commercial web and newspapers. “Their knowledge of Baldwin’s products and customers is extremely valuable and will strengthen Baldwin’s presence and enhance the quality and speed of technical support in these areas,” he says. Customers will have Baldwin’s Sydney office as their single point of contact for sales and technical support requirements, and will benefit from even more responsive after-sales care. Alex Imre, managing director of Plunkett and Johnson, says the company had been impressed by Baldwin’s pioneering development work and the breadth of its product portfolio, which has resulted in a strong and valued position within the printing industry. “Baldwin’s products also complement the equipment and technologies we represent on behalf of other leading manufacturers for the graphic arts market, so we’re delighted at their decision. We’re confident that this new partnership will result in significant new orders for Baldwin equipment and an even greater level of responsive support for customers.”
