Oahu Publications in Honolulu will install MediaSpan’s editorial CMS for its flagship Star-Advertiser.

The daily is Hawaii’s largest newspaper with a print and digital circulation of 265,099. The NewsEditPro system will also be used for MidWeek Publications (Oahu and Kauai) and Garden Island (Lihue, Kauai).

Technology vice president Roger Forness says the aim was to provide editorial staff with a modern, easy-to-use system with everything to deliver content in all formats. Senior systems analyst Perry Magpoc says the ability to consolidate operations and users was the goal: “We feel we can meet these goals quickly, and provide our customers with the very best products and services available,” he says.

The Star-Advertiser was fomed in 2010 by the merger of the Star-Bulletin (est 1882) and Honolulu Advertiser (1856) after OPI purchased the Advertiser from Gannett.
