New Screen inkjet takes print back to black

If there's a digital newspaper printing opportunity that doesn't justify colour, a new monochrome Screen inkjet has it covered.

The new Truepress Jet520HD mono is a specialised model for monochrome printing, with resolution up to 1200x1200 dpi and speeds of up to 150 metres per minute achievable.

Screen GP Australia managing director Peter Scott says monochrome digital still accounts for a significant portion of printed output. "Book printing, trade paperbacks, pharmaceutical multi-lingual pamphlets, lottery tickets and transactional print continue to be consistent and on-demand production of required numbers has become standard.

"On-demand production has been advancing rapidly, particularly for higher-resolutions, with this resolution and ability to print digitally to coated and uncoated stocks driving demand."

The 520HD mono uses Screen's SC inks with rapid drying and excellent substrate adherence. "These inks give the press the ability to print directly onto offset coated papers, without primers," he says.

The compact system can be managed from a tablet, and is designed as a dedicated monochrome press or to replace toner-based production printers.
