Things are looking sharper around Kolkata as a handful of web printers commit to auto colour registration technology.

Dutch specialist QI Press Controls reports five orders from the West Bengal region and another from a company in Bhiwandi.

The installations cover CDC Printers, two presses at Sristi Graphic, Darpan Conclave and NAP Printers, while a further order came from Bhiwandi-based Print Plus.

CDC Printers - "a satisfied customer for a while now," according to QIPC-EAE India managing director Vijay Pandya - added two mRC-3D cameras to its Manugraph Cityline following the installation of an extra tower, while another repeat order came from Darpan Conclave, adding two cameras to the mRC-3D system on their TPH Orient.

Two identical orders from Sristi Graphic equipped their Naph presses, which had previously not had any form of automated colour register. "They were quickly persuaded by the benefits of automation, waste savings and consistency of print quality," says Pandya.

Positive feedback was also a factor in the order from NAP Printers, where two mRC-3D cameras for colour register and cut-off control have been installed on their Manugraph Cityline.

At Print Plus, two cameras will address colour register on a Prakash press, promising savings in labour costs and reduced waste.
