Delivered mid-March, just as COVID-19 was also arriving in the country, a sophisticated new manroland Goss Lithoman is just in production at Mercury Print Productions.
The eight-colour heatset web - which includes complex online slitting and folding, and Rima inline finishing - is the latest addition to a company with a reputation for innovation.
It joins extensive sheetfed offset and digital print capacity including five Kodak Prosper inkjet webs and the country's first Landa S10P nanographic press.
Founded in the basement of Valerie Mannix's home in 1969, and now led by her son John Place and president Christian Schamberger, today's focus is as a technology provider with "print as an output".
With multiple sites now in Rochester, New York, the company has moved beyond business forms to embrace book production, pharmaceutical printing, direct mail and a whole range of digital print products including on-demand and variable data as well as wide-format.
The 48-page manroland Goss Lithoman web - which supports the publishing business with huge capacity needed for seasonal academic work - is further proof that offset continues to have a place amid other innovations. Video of the new press is at the company's LinkedIn site.
