With the activities of Jack Ma's Hong Kong-based masthead always of interest, the return of South China Morning Post chief executive Gary Liu to Digital Media Asia will be a highlight.

The WAN-Ifra conference is being held in Hong Kong this year, from November 7-9.

Prior to joining SCMP in early 2017, Liu headed Digg, spearheading its transformation from aggregator to a data-driven news platform.

Another opening keynote at DMA will come from Schibsted Norway head of editorial Torry Pedersen, who also has a story of business model transformation and digital revenue to share.

A member of Schibsted Media's top management team, Pedersen was the previously editor and chief executive of top-selling Norwegian masthead Verdens Gang. He started his career as a journalist in Fredrikstad Blad in 1981.

WAN-Ifra says the conference's second day will focus on trends, technology and innovation. An early-bird rate is currently available. Details from http://www.dma.wan-ifra.org
