Protecmedia has appointed advertisement and circulation business unit director Alejandro Lorenzo its new chief executive, ahead of Manuel Fernando Gómez-Carpintero's retirement.
The board of the Madrid-headquartered company has announced that while Gómez will continue as president of the company, he has started delegating executive tasks as part of the transition.
Lorenzo joined Protecmedia as projects and deployment director in 2002, moving to his advertisement and circulation role four years ago. During this period, solutions for the comprehensive management of advertising, circulation and digital and print subscriptions have been optimised through creative and innovative vision and the development of successful projects worldwide.
Lorenzo has a higher degree in computer science from Madrid polytechnic university of Madrid and a master's degree in Télécom Bretagne (ENST - France).
The company says in his new role he will be responsible for leading Protecmedia's technological evolution, opening new markets and new customers, "firmly betting on new technologies as a basis for achieving profitability in the future of media and editorial companies".
Fernando Gómez has been part of Protecmedia since the company was founded in 1979, dedicating his career to software development up until his appointment as chief executive in 2000.
Since its foundation, Protecmedia has deepened its vision of technology as a vital element for the media and press business. Currently it is active in 29 countries with more than 500 customers.
