More local news outlets are launching, with a new Sunshine Coast News website from an established local publisher, and a new monthly for North Sydney.

Sunshinecoastnews.com.au describes itself as "the evolution of a vibrant homegrown media business" developed by Darryl Olson, Noel Olson, Michael Kramer and Anar Higgins. With roots going back more than 12 years, the business publishes local news and lifestyle glossy My Weekly Preview, and other titles including quarterly Salt, an over-55s magazine called Your Time and a publication for renovators.

Sunshine Coast News went live online on November 26, and is edited by Peter Hall, who was News Corp's Sunshine Coast bureau chief.

New local monthly the North Sydney Sun launches next month from Grahame Lynch's Decisive Publishing, which he founded in 1994.

His CV lists three years running Overground in Bangkok, time as an interviewer/TV presenter working in Hong Kong, Honolulu, Shanghai, Singapore and Bangkok, and writing for The Australian and the Sydney Morning Herald.

The first edition included a "pay-what-you-want" offer to first-time advertisers, and runs on tight deadlines, attributed to a "stealth-mode bootstrap style.

"It is deliberately fast and flexible, rewarding those who can operate in the same way," he says.
