Journalism comes at a price of $207 a year, according to new investigative site INQ set to start at the end of this month.

The subscription will also include access to its parent, Crikey, which announced the 12 journalists which will form its key investigative team.

Crikey and its owner Private Media - which is backed by shareholders John B Fairfax and Cameron O'Reilly - will be "completely transparent" about funding, so that consumers can see where funding comes from, it says.

Named for the INQ roster are: editor Lauren Molan (a former chief of staff and producer for The Project), consulting editor Suzanne Smith, Kirsten Drysdale, David Hardaker, Jennine Khalik, Justine Landis-Hanley, Charlie Lewis, Kishor Napier-Raman, Amber Schultz, Emily Watkins, Georgia Wilkins and Chris Woods.
