Norwegian magazine giant Egmont is taking its portfolio of more than 50 newspapers and magazines to ppi's Media's Content-X platform.

The Oslo-based Egmont Publishing Norway - part of the country's largest publisher of magazines and weeklies - will take advantage of digital asset management features and the fact that content can be entered in a media-neutral format.

Egmont works with an extensive range of content providers and the new system will enable journalists, photographers and editors to submit and edit content from any location via a web browser.

Following demos and workshops, Content-X was one of three candidates considered by the company until an extensive test phase started last February, and later included production of weekly magazine Vi Menn.

Publishing director Axel Walø (pictured) says the company had started defining its business needs regarding omni-channel content management as well as efficient print production by the beginning of 2017, and found ppi Media, Digital Collections, and BrandMaster were partners "that listen to our business needs and provide constructive suggestions.

"Content-X is a flexible system that allows for customisation and scalability to support our needs and makes us fit to meet future challenges in our part of the media industry."

One of the three largest media groups in Norway, Egmont and has a tradition going back over a hundred years. It is a leader in TV, movies and cinema, magazines, online newspapers and publishing. Among its best-selling weekly magazines and comics are Hjemmet, Vi Menn, Bonytt and Donald Duck.
