Focus on digital in virtual show's second day

Newspaper and digital print applications were first up when press manufacturer Koenig & Bauer introduced its 2020 innovations during a special live virtual event.

The timing - from June 16-25 - would have coincided with that of the DRUPA trade show, which has been postponed to April 2021.

Digital and webfed sales vice president Stefan Segger (pictured) mentioned applications including bookprinting for Rotajet digital presses up to 2.8 metres wide and capable of speeds up to 270 metres/minute.

The virtual show also covered the joint venture with Durst for digital packaging printing, new sheetfed press launched including the Rapida 106 for packaging and commercial, and the opening of a new 3000m2 customer experience centre in Radebeul.

Chief executive Claus Bolza-Schünemann, who is also chairman of the DRUPA board, pledged continued support for the show, at which his company will highlight the Varijet 106 press on a 4400m2 stand.

Bolza-Schünemann's introduction and the Day 2 Digital and Webfed Insights on digital, corrugated, newspaper, commercial and flexo printing and digital services can be viewed retrospectively on YouTube.
