Newsmakers show why #NewsMatters in live events

A webcast featuring Anthony Fauci and Maria Ressa is among events to celebrate World News Day on September 28.

Newsrooms from across the globe are urged to mark the event and show audiences editorially, and through live events, why #NewsMatters.

Dr Fauci, director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and Maria Ressa, the embattled co-founder and executive editor of the Filipino news site Rappler now facing imprisonment, will be among newsmakers and journalists featured on one of the World News Day virtual events, with Brian Stelter, chief media correspondent for CNN Worldwide and host of the weekly Reliable Sources, hosting the webcast.
