PDF app update adds still more features

A "milestone update" for pdfToolbox includes superfast modification of even massive PDFs, an engine to compare colour between PDFs, generic 'fixups' and an OCR engine.

Callas Software managing director Dietrich von Seggern says with the twelfth version, "one would think it would become more difficult to introduce genuine improvements in such a mature product.

"Instead, we are continuously amazed at what our customers accomplish with it."

The list of asked-for features keeps growing every year. "Once more, we've tried to strike a balance between improving what was already there, yet at the same time introducing completely new and exciting functionality."

After version 11 added a QuickCheck engine, pdfToolbox 12 adds a QuickFix engine to achieve the same for PDF corrections.

The upgrade also introduces new colour functionality - adding a spot colour separation based on ink amounts of objects - plus minimum and maximum ink checks for individual separations, and more.

The software is also compatible with Apple's recently-released its macOS Big Sur update.
