Faster-better-cheaper as Baltic printer updates

Automation at Estonian-based newspaper and catalogue printer Printall will be "quicker and more reliable" following a technology update.

A Koenig & Bauer Compacta heatset press in Tallinn is to be equipped with QI Press Controls' mRC-3D and IDS-3D system for register, cut-off and colour control.

To address the need for a smaller colour bar, a two-millimetre-high bar is being used with an integrated register mark. Expectations are for consistent 1000-revolution start-ups and a 15 per cent saving in waste.

Founded in 1971 Printall is one of the largest printing companies in the Baltic states, with the Tallinn plant producing a variety of work from newspapers to brochures. The relationship with QIPC dates to 2003.
