Video platform Ooyala - a subsidiary of Australian telco Telstra - has appointed Mike Nikzad as its chief operating officer.

He previously held similar positions with file collaboration company Syncplicity, and with EMC's consumer and small business division and NewNet Communication Technologies.

The company says Nikzad will be responsible for leading daily operations of the business with an emphasis on Ooyala's product lifecycle, including inception, development, delivery, support, and all customer deployments.

Ooyala chief executive Jonathan Huberman says the two have worked together in "numerous" previous companies: "As we have in the past and together with our teams, we will work to forge strong customer partnerships driven by leading edge solutions and a customer first ethos," he said.

Ooyala's set of integrated video platform solutions includes one of the world's largest premium video platforms, a leading ad decisioning platform and media logistics solution that improves video production workflows.
