Pascal Juéry has taken over as chief executive of Agfa-Gevaert, succeeding Christian Reinaudo.

The appointment is effective from February 1. Juéry, aged 54 and from Paris, France, is a graduate of ESCP Business School with more than 30 years of experience in the chemical and advanced material industries.

Juéry (pictured) started his career in finance and led a number of global businesses as well as holding key functional responsibilities. For the past ten years, he has been a member of the executive committee of Rhodia and then Solvay, where the company says he took an active part in the group portfolio and business transformation.

Reinaudo - who was appointed chief executive in 2010 - continues to be a member of Agfa's board of directors. Chairman Klaus Röhrig praised his work in stabilising the company and restoring profitability following the global economic crisis. "He implemented a growth strategy for all the business activities of the group which, as the results of the last two quarters show, is starting to bear fruit."
