Prima brand to live on as manroland Goss division

manroland Goss has announced it will trade one of the brands it acquired with the IP assets of Harland Simon.

The German press maker - which bought the intellectual property rights after Harland Simon became insolvent last October - will call its new controls, drive upgrades and cross-brand remote support unit the Prima Controls Group.

The team of former Harland Simon engineers and technicians will be led by engineered solutions senior manager Steve Withers. Prima Controls Group will draw on more than 100 years of press controls experience to provide solutions and support for all makes and models of newspaper press equipment.

manroland Goss sales vice president Ron Sams says the Prima launch puts the company in "the best position we have ever been" to offer support and enhancements to the newspaper market.

"We now have the expertise and the portfolio with solutions for press controls and drive upgrades at every size and for every brand on the market," he said.

Prima Controls Group senior project manager Shawn Wright says being part of manroland Goss will open the door for a completely new level of collaboration, not possible in the past".
