Promotion for Janz as Nine consolidates tech strategy

Former Fairfax metro managing director Chris Janz has additional responsibilities after being named chief digital and publishing officer at Nine.

The current managing director of publishing takes on a role previously held by Alex Parsons until a 2017 restructure. Alexi Baker, previously director of strategy and corporate development, becomes managing director of commercial.

Nine chief executive Hugh Marks says Janz (pictured) will now take charge of group technology and data product and strategy, in addition to its digital and publishing business. This includes BVOD and streaming platform 9Now, Nine.com.au and NZ subsidiary Stuff, as well as former Fairfax mastheads The Age, the Sydney Morning Herald and the Australian Financial Review.

Marks says the moves will consolidate Nine's technology strategy and execution in one team as it moves from being a broadcast-focused content company to a content, data and technology company.
