Rolling Stone revival costs print readers a Brag

Doors open and close on Sydney's street and music press with a print revival of Rolling Stone this month and the end of The Brag.

The weekly-then-fortnightly-then-monthly free music newspaper will publish its last print edition on March 4, and while it will continue online, visitors will find little enough about music there.

Meanwhile Rolling Stone magazine, brought back to life online, is to launch a "premium, long form" print edition in May.

Both belong to The Brag Media - previously Seventh Street Media - which tells readers that artists and industry "are now spoilt for choice" with its music titles, which also include Tone Deaf, The Industry Observer and Don't Bore Us.

The publisher says it is "evolving with its audience by offering them the premium experience they demand in print, while still delivering all the gig guides, news and op-eds they loved in The Brag Magazine online in a real time, interactive format".

Founded, it says, by "the best kinds of ratbags - the ones who didn't mind a late deadline as long as beers were served" - The Brag launched in 2003 after more than six years under the title Revolver.
