'Double out' boost as Aiken adds extra colour

A four-tower Goss Magnum installed in stages is helping meet colour and productivity demands at South Carolina's Aiken Standard.

The upgrade has also enabled splitting the press, running two folders simultaneously ath the Standard, part of Evening Post Industries.

A repeat customer, the company worked with supplier ImPressions Worldwide on the configuration, while controlling costs. The SSC Magnum press was removed from Houston for improvements - including adding splicers and one mono unit - and staged specifically for the new Aiken configuration.

Because of very limited space, the equipment is being shipped and installed in stages, with the Goss Community removed, and Phase One is now in production, and the second phase set for completion this month.

Standard production director Brad Berg says the transition to the new Magnum press was virtually seamless. "We are on schedule to have phase two completed soon." He praised the installation team who tackled space challenges to remove the old equipment to make way for the new.

"The new press will dramatically increase quality and capacity as well as speed of production."
