Family-owned Brazilian weekend paper Gazeta de Alagoas has returned to a daily news routine with the launch of new digital and app editions.

The 85-year-old Arnon de Mello Organization (OAM) publication is using Mundiware tools to drive growth in subscriptions and advertising.

Executive director Luís Amorim emphasised the resumption of the "daily routine of publishing" and the ease of consumption of content at a launch event. "Readers will have the opportunity to access information from anywhere in the world, whether on tablet, smartphone, computer, even if they are traveling.

"It's immeasurable."

Technology manager Kleiner Mota says features streamline the audience experience, with readers able to browse news in flip format. "We can merge the (print and digital) experiences and bring much more convenience and resource for those who read," he says.

Other tools include adjusting text size and converting publication to speech, "a convenience feature or digital inclusion tool".

In addition to the news portal and flip format, the Gazeta de Alagoas app is a third way to digitally access newspaper content. Mota says other usability features in the app add quality to the user experience. "You can click to read the text but also have access to additional content such as photo gallery, videos, podcast. Before it was not possible to deliver all this."
