A year after the Chinese subsidiary opened its doors, manroland web Printing Equipment (Beijing) Co says the launch has been a great success.

A smooth transition was secured by the large number of employees experienced in newspaper and commercial presses who joined from the previous sales oprganisation. "Due to this, there neither was a long start-up period nor a loss of know-how," says a spokesperson.

"The market reaction on the foundation of the new manroland organization with its key competence in web offset printing and an improved service offering has been very positive.
Recent months have seen the installation of two presses at separate sites in Beijing, and installation of a new FormerLine digital finishing system is about to start.

There are also negotiations on further press projects with Chinese customers at the moment.

Additionally establishing a fast and broad service offering has been a main thrust of the new market organization, with early projects including press relocations in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, press audit contracts and upgrades and retrofits.

Printers with non-manroland presses have also been encouraged to ask for support, and first orders for third party press service have already been placed.

During this year's China Print this month, the market organisation will organize an event for customers from all over China to introduce new strategic approaches and business models for the future. In the course of this event, the organisation will also take the opportunity to have discussions and share experiences with its customers.

Innovations from web offset printing and service offerings will be introduced, as well as new business fields including the manroland web Store.
