A new ‘editor’s choice’ iPad version of Malaysia’s ‘Harian Metro’ gives the country its first Malay-language app for the platform.

The daily iPad edition offers a selection of news and features about politics, business, social life, sports and entertainment, including exclusive interviews, which are accompanied by stunning images and videos.

“The Harian Metro iPad edition has been specifically developed and designed to take advantage of the many possibilities offered by the iPad,” says group editor Datuk Mustapa Omar. “This is the first time a Malay-language newspaper has delivered its exclusive content – including lots of pictures, videos and graphics – via an iPad reader app.

“The Harian Metro app also provides our advertisers the opportunity to reach out to their respective target audiences, who are online-savvy and technologically driven.”

The app is being produced using WoodWing software – solution partner Serious Technology and TriStar Marketing worked with New Straits Times Press on the creation of its iPad editions – as well as its content delivery service.

The print edition of ‘Harian Metro’ – launched in 1991 – has become the largest daily newspaper in Malaysia, and now attracts more than three million readers a day.
