The latest of four TKS newspaper presses at Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing has been installed with QI Press Controls' register technology in a first for all three companies.

Three of the Japanese TKS presses have already been installed, the latest of these in the Calicut plant, one of 14 operated in India by Mathrubhumi, one of the largest newspaper publishers in Kerala.

Managing director of QIPC-EAE India Vijay Pandya says his company came into contact with Mathrubhumi, TKS and local agent Krause Biagosch India at almost at the same time. During a visit to the plant in Calicut, Vijay Pandya gave a presentation on the benefits of its mRC-3D colour register system, leading to a request that TKS fit it to the new press. In Japan, QIPC had been working on leads with TKS for some time, with contacts between the two "so well entrenched" thanks to the hard work of Krause Biagosch, that TKS agreed to the request.

Twelve mRC-3D cameras for colour register with automatic ink mist shields have been on the new six-tower, twin-folder TKS press. Beyond issues of local support and service, and the well-established relationship, Mathrubhumi was attracted by upgrade options with the system. These include options such as cut-off control, and at a later stage plans investment in IDS-3D colour control... and of course, adding the QI systems to the other three presses.

Mathrubhumi publishes the Mathrubhumi Daily and ten magazines in the Malayalam language.
