AWT System will act as exclusive strategic partner CCI in China and southeast Asia, delivering and supporting its NewsGate product.

The agreement covers China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, and covers NewsGate and associated solutions including online and digital.

CCI chief eceutive Dan Korsgaard says AWT’s profile in the region – coupled with an experienced IT and editorial support organisation – were important factors in their appointment as exclusive partner.

“This partnership is not only an exciting opportunity for both organisations but primarily it’s about what it will offer media organisations in these markets,” he says. “Combining local knowledge and expertise offered by AWT System with a powerful solution like CCI NewsGate has to be a win-win for any newsroom.”

He says CCI is continually looking to expand its global reach, with the Chinese language soon to become available with NewsGate.

AWT System brings more than 20 years industry experience to the partnership that has seen them gain a dominant market share in Asia’s Chinese publishing industry. Currently around 30 daily newspaper and 30 magazines use AWT’s editorial and advertising systems to publish more than 1000 news pages and generate more than 10,000 ads every day.

Spokesperson and chief consultant at AWT System Terrence Fok says the company believed the time was right to form a partnership rather than continue development of their editorial solution: “Make no mistake about it, this is not a reseller agreement; this is a genuine partnership agreement we’ve entered into with CCI that will see us working very closely with them,” he says.
