CCI and WAN-Ifra will host a weekend MediaHackDays event next month at the systems developer’s Danish headquarters.

The hackathon – open to journalists and developers from around the world – organised by the Danish Chapter of Hacks/Hackers with sponsorship from CCI Europe and WAN-Ifra, takes place from May 2-4.

The idea is to bring together innovation-minded journalists and developers and give them the opportunity to build new things within a journalistic framework, but without the constraints that tend to stifle innovation in the conventional work environment.



It is supported by WAN-Ifra’s Media Innovation Hub and World Editors Forum

“Hacks/Hackers is a global, non-profit grass-roots movement working with the intersection of journalism and technology,” says Signe Jepsen of its Danish chapter. “We’re not related to any media organisations – or anyone, actually. What we are all about is developing journalism with technology and through technology.”

Participants will also have the opportunity to work with media metadata courtesy of the Guardian, which is also a partner of the event, along with Knight-Mozilla OpenNews.

“Our goal is to do radical innovation. We don’t know what’s going to happen, but that’s our goal,” says Jepsen.
