The Newspaper Works has set the date for next year’s Future Forum and promises to take the event “up another notch” with a move to the Sydney Hilton.
The two-day programme (September 10-11) replicates this year’s with workshops, a plenary day and separate evening events for the Advertising and Marketing Awards and PANPA Newspaper of the Year Awards.
Chief executive Mark Hollands said research among this year’s 600-plus delegates was “overwhelmingly positive” and supported expansion of the event.
Research showed Sydney was the most popular city for the event.
The Hilton’s stylish Zeta bar will be the venue for the Advertising & Marketing Awards on the Thursday evening, with the Newspaper of the Year gala dinner set for the Hilton ballroom on Friday. “Spectacular entertainment" will make it a memorable night, Hollands promises.
This year’s speakers included Australian communications minister Malcolm Turnbull, the chief executives of the four newspaper companies that own The Newspaper Works, and senior executives from the New York Times, Axel Springer and Singapore Press Holdings.
Paper manufacturer Norkse Skog will continue as platinum sponsor, and Hollands says one-day workshops and the plenary sessions will remain free to attend.
• Two Newspaper Works workshops are planned for this month – a ‘copy school’ series and a digital project management workshop.
