After launching into Myanmar in March Singapore Press Holdings is taking its flagship Straits Times into Brunei.

United Borneo Press is printing 2500 copies of the English-language daily’s new regional edition at its Goss-equipped plant in Sabah.

Readers will also be able to subscribe to a print-and-digital package which includes the paper and full access to online, tablet and smartphone editions.

A launch party was being held at the Parkview hotel in Brunei Darussalam attended by SPH circulation executive vice-president Chua Wee Phong, United Daily News chairman Dato Paduka Lim Beng Thai and United Borneo Press managing director Sim Yong Liang, as well as the Singapore High Commissioner to Brunei, Jaya Ratnam.

“The launch of the Straits Times in Brunei, together with a digital access package, will keep readers informed of important news events in the world, the region and in Singapore,” Chua says.

The Straits Times has 20 bureaux around the world. Its new Myanmar edition has become the largest circulation international newspaper at 5000 copies daily.
