Just a month now until Publish Asia 2015 opens in Bangkok, and a packed programme awaits.
The event from April 28-30 is expected to draw 400 media executives including top speakers from around the world. The programme focusses on case studies showing how media companies across the globe are defining and implementing strategies to consolidate their print operations while building up sound foundations to secure digital growth.
Among presenters is Nada Tielu, who heads Fairfax Media's native mobile unit and will explain the growth of mobile revenue from both advertising and subscribers. She will also present insights into a Sydney Morning Herald new product case study.
President and chief executive of Hearst Fujingaho (Japan) Yves Bougon, who is also east Asia managing director of Hearst Magazines, will discuss the company's activities in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea. Magazines sites and e-commerce portals focus on a 'user first' strategy which includes optimising content and campaigns using data management strategies.
The innovative VGTV web-native TV project from Norwegian media group Schibsted is outlined by its editor and acting chief executive Helje Solberg. The 'next-generation' business investment aims to grow substantial audience among video-centric, tablet-using, smartphone-punching youth.
Editor in chief of Post Publishing and chairman of WAN-Ifra's Asia Pacific committee Pichai Chuensuksawadi says Thailand was a unanimous choice for the event after the success of the World Newspaper Congress in Bangkok in 2013: "Going back to Bangkok was an easy decision to take," he says.
Asia director Gilles Demptos says Bangkok remains one of Asia's favourite destinations: "The warm support of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai Airways International and the vibrancy of the Thai newspaper industry make it an ideal venue for organising an inspiring and exciting event.
"Publish Asia will also be an opportunity for Asian news publishers to show solidarity and support in challenging times to their Thai peers."
The programme includes a CEO Conference, newsroom summit - held in cooperation with the World Editors Forum - advertising summit and printing summit events, plus an expo showcasing latest technology and service offerings.
Two masterclasses cover visual communication and storytelling (under the leadership of Mario Garcia) and the development of more effective ad sales operations (under the guidance of Eamonn Byrne).
Winners of the Asian Media Awards 2015 will be presented during the Asian Media Awards Gala Dinner on April 29.
