Media researcher Brian Rock will express his views on the future of newspapers a PrintEx15 forum session in Sydney next week.
Evolution, not Extinction, is the theme when Rock explains why he believes print has a long and interesting future ahead.
Research and insights manager for The Newspaper Works - the industry group owned by Australia's four largest news publishers - he says that while the disappearance of printed newspapers has been predicted for some time, available evidence indicates that this is unlikely. Printed newspapers continue to attract more readers than their digital counterparts and provide the bulk of newspaper revenues.
Rock's session will be held at 11.30am on Wednesday May 13, the first day of the print trade show at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park. Find it in the industry insights theatre on the exhibition floor
A strategic research professional with more than 30 years' experience in advertising, marketing and media, Rock worked for Network Ten and Mitchell Media Partners before joining TNW, where he is responsible for oversight of incoming research and data.
At PrintEx15, he will present insights based on data from a number of sources, and discuss why the most likely outcome for printed newspapers is that they will survive, complementing digital media to meet different needs for different markets.
