Australia's Fairfax Media is getting closer to young entrepreneurs with a partnership with NFP organisation Startup Week Australia.

The Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Financial Review and BRW are to support a year-long programme of events across the nation. Panels and content address retaining entrepreneurial talent, better STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) education and workplace diversity, FinTech, the internet of things and the startup journey.

Financial Review editor-in-chief Michael Stutchbury says the involvement will allow Fairfax to engage with new and emerging audiences and align with new trends. A FinTech venture capital and corporate innovation panel in Sydney this week, hosted with Reinventure Group, featured senior innovation executives from Australia's big banks including Simon Cant (co-founder of Reinventure), Adam Bennett (CBA) and Jonathan Davey (NAB Labs)., plus federal Liberal MP David Coleman, a former technology entrepreneur and venture capital investor. It was moderated by AFR financial services editor James Eyers.
