Australia's Future Print project - a joint venture between Printing Industries and the AMWU - has got $250,000 in subsidised training on offer before it winds up in just over four months

Future Print was established in 2012 to address apprenticeship training and business transformation, and was given federal government funding for two projects. The now-completed apprenticeship project saw a new, competency based apprenticeship training model designed and piloted by more than 300 apprentices.

The more recent business transformation project provided the opportunity for businesses to assess their performance, plan the transitions needed to meet future market demands, and train and equip to meet those demands. It is this second project - due to conclude mid-May - in which David Galbraith and the Future Print team at Printing Industries want to ensure delivers every dollar's worth of value. "To date, we have had hundreds of businesses undertake strategic reviews using the Media Super online business benchmarking service and many of those have gone on to work with Future Print consultants and use our business toolkit to create workforce development plans," he says.

Only 465 of 500 federally-funded places for subsidised training have been taken up, and time is running out before mid-May when remaining funding will be off the table.

Courses available include competitive systems and practices (lean manufacturing), small business, colour management, sales and digital upskilling. Further information at www.futureprint.org.au or contact Galbraith on 0434 746 313 or email dgalbraith@futureprint.org.au
