Privately-owned Australian daily publisher McPherson Media has become the country's first user of Newscycle's paywall solution.

The central Victorian publisher of the Shepparton News has gone live on Newscycle's Digital Paymeter, adding its paid content features to the Circulation system they already use to manage its print and digital subscriptions.

The Syncronex-powered module allows McPherson Media to control metered content and explore new digital revenue strategies using real-time subscriber data. A 'single sign-on' feature eliminates the need for readers to have multiple logins and passwords, supporting social media integration.

It also increases compliance and security for the group's websites.

A new registration feature readers free article views in exchange for creating an account, collecting the account data and using it to market to new readers, generate targeted content and help increase digital subscriptions.

McPherson Media Group is one of the oldest family-owned newspaper groups in Australasia and publishes the daily Shepparton News and 12 weekly, biweekly and triweekly publications in Victoria and New South Wales.
