Only weeks after its original Bangkok venue was the scene of violent clashes between protestors and police, WAN-Ifra has announced relocation and a new date for its Publish Asia conference in Kuala Lumpur in August. The conference will now be held from August 3-5, with the Asia Media Awards dinner on August 4. The Malaysian venue had been a ‘fallback’ option when organisers were forced to postpone the event because of political unrest in Thailand. The programme includes three concurrent streams, four learning workshops and an expo. • The CEO Conference will cover business issues, trends and case studies relevant to Asian publishers. • The Newsroom Summit will tackle the problems and challenges facing editors an d others involved in leading and managing newsrooms in a multiple media environment.

 • The Printing Summit is aimed at technical and production directors, prepress and plant managers as well as IT heads, tasked with managing publishing and printing operations.

One-day learning workshops on specific topics will offer additional reasons to travel
to Malaysia. Topics include cross media advertising, iPad for newspapers, how to plan and implement Newsroom 3.0, and cost control in production. The Expo gets a new 1000 m2 venue to showcase the latest technology and service offerings for optimising newspaper production in print and new media platforms.
The Asia Media Awards gala dinner will see the presentation of awards recognizing the best in print, design, infographics and special sections, and photojournalism.
