WAN-Ifra’s 11th Publish Asia 2011 (Bangkok, April 27-29) will focus on how media companies can take advantage of the economic recovery and secure the future.

The theme of the event is ‘Driving future-proof media growth’.

Asia Pacific committee chairman Pichai Chuensuksawadi, who is editor-in-chief of the ‘Bangkok Post’ says the event’s main industry partners have endorsed Thailand as their preferred venue for 2011. “Going back to Bangkok was therefore an easy decision to take,” he says.

“The publishers in Thailand are eager to host peers from across Asia and to benefit from Publish Asia’s unique learning and networking opportunity.”

Publish Asia 2011 will explore forward thinking innovations in the newsroom with its Newsroom Summit, and for production and technology developments through the Printing Summit conference. The 2011 event will add an Advertising Summit focussing on cross media opportunities.

“We see good reasons for being optimistic,” says Thomas Jacob, WAN-Ifra  deputy chief executive and managing director for Greater Asia Pacific. "2010 was a fairly good year for the news publishing industry in Asia, and prospects for 2011 look even better. Using the better times to adequately prepare for the future is key.”

Publish Asia highlights include:

• The Newsroom Summit, which will tackle the problems and challenges facing editors, managing editors, news editors, chief reporters and all those who are involved in leading and managing newsrooms in a multiple media environment.

• The Printing Summit, which is aimed at technical and production directors, prepress and plant managers and IT heads who manage the publishing and printing operations. The summit will concentrate on new technologies and trends with a special emphasis on cost-saving tools and techniques in production.

• The Advertising Summit, which will cover the latest trends that are transforming the relationships between media companies, advertisers and agencies.

• An Expo which will showcase the latest technology and service offerings for optimising newspaper production on print as well as on new media platforms.

Other events held at Publish Asia will include one-day learning seminars on specific topics and site visits to leading Bangkok media houses.

The winners of the Asia Media Awards 2011 will be presented during a gala dinner on April 28. Registration is now open and the deadline for entries submission is on March1.
