Around 400 delegates are expected for WAN-Ifra's anniversary 25th India Conference, which opens in Hyderabad tomorrow.

A workshop on printing innovation led by WAN-Ifra's deputy chief executive Manfred Werfel, and another on social media for editors - for which consultant Steve Yelvington has travelled from the US - are already underway, and later today all are welcome to hear from Google News Lab about tools brought to the fight against misinformation online, and how to "unlock the powerful world of data journalism, take your audience to the heart of the story with dynamic, interactive and exciting visuals".

While the groups so far are small and tight, the arrival at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre of industry delegates from around the world underlines the economic importance of this dynamic market.

The full conference starts tomorrow morning and continues on Thursday. Included are the 'best in print' and International Color Quality Club awards from the Asian Media Awards, and later the presentation of the South Asian Digital Media Awards - presented by Google - and gala dinner.

A plant tour on Thursday evening will take delegates to the print centre of Telangana Publications, where a new Cromoman newspaper press has been producing Namasthe Telangana since 2016.
