News Corp has rounded up ten of its retail and corporate clients for a Townsville 'flood relief' wrap, saying it will share a quarter of takings with victims.

Catastrophic floods which ruined 20,000 homes and caused $300 million of damage "compelled" the media giant to "do something to give back", in this case through the Australian News Regional Media division which publishes the daily Townsville Bulletin.

Ten advertisers - the Australian Banking Association, Amcal, Bakers Delight, Flight Centre, Jaycar, NAB, RACQ, Suncorp, Westpac and Woolworths - supported a 16-page supplement to Saturday's paper.

In a corporate release, sales director Heidi Sayers said it was "vital for News Regional Media to assist the region, helping to keep the spirit and hope alive within the local community".

She thanked staff and clients of News' national sales for their efforts in what she called an important initiative. A quarter of the revenue from the 16-page wrap was being "given back" through www.givitorg.com.au.

Editor Jenna Cairney thanked colleagues "as someone who was also personally impacted by the floods".

"We are so proud of this newspaper wrap, the invaluable information and stories within, and the messages of encouragement from brands around the country."
