Screen out of DRUPA as business moves on virtually

Screen Graphic Solutions has become the latest "DRUPA regular" to announce it will not take part in next year's international print trade show.

A statement says the decision has been based on "sensible precautions after considering the current circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic" as well as growing opportunities for new virtual experiences.

"We are continuously creating both virtual and physical communication opportunities designed to ensure the best possible experience," it says.

Screen GA Australia managing director Peter Scott says he thinks prospects for a safe European show - especially for visitors from Australia and New Zealand - are uncertain: "Trade shows and especially DRUPA are all about meeting, networking and socialising and I can't see this working as early as April 2021, even if planes are flying and borders are quarantine-free."

With fond memories of past shows, he says he is looking forward to "more certain times and the return of the DRUPA we know and love".

The Japanese manufacturer is notably a supplier of CTP and inkjet web systems to the newsmedia industry.
