If your French is up to it, a TV commercial posted by the country's regional daily press association makes engaging viewing.

The TVC demonstrates the role French regional dailies play not only in providing news but also as support for locals and as a spokesperson between citizens and authorities. Proximity is a key word in this relationship.

Presse Quotidienne Régionale (PQR) represents 64 titles with more than 32 million print readers.

Research shows that readers value the useful information the regional titles provide. They are providing service, support and are often the link between the public authorities and citizens. They are sometimes seen as the spokespersons for the inhabitants. This strong role has been translated into an increase in subscriptions this year and also in a strong demand from advertisers, according to European print support organisation PrintPower, which has posted the video.

The commercial developed by the Paris-based agency Havas features the regional newspaper as a source of inspiration and the trigger to keep everyone engaged.
