Leading roles for Kendall, Duffy in ACM succession

After having first been brought in to review operations in 2019 and then joining as chief revenue officer, Tony Kendall has been named for the top job at Australian Community Media.

As managing director, he succeeds Allen Williams - who is set to leave on December 18 - but is supported by chief financial officer Renee Duffy, who adds the human resources, HSE, operations, printing and logistics of chief operating officer to her responsibilities.

Both are direct reports to executive chairman Antony Catalano.

Kendall's chief revenue officer role is taken on by current enterprise sales director Sharon Fitter.

After 23 years in sales roles at News Corp Australia, Kendall led Australian Radio Network as chief executive, becoming chief revenue officer of APN News & Media.

Catalano said he was delighted to announce the promotions, citing Kendall's success in helping transform ACM's commercial offering and Duffy's contribution to the transition of ACM from Nine and previously Fairfax Media.

"Under Tony and Renee's leadership I believe we have the experience and talent to fast track the growth and evolution of our existing business as we seek to connect our large and valuable audiences with our compelling and trusted content," he said.

"I'd also like to recognise the great work that Sharon Fitter has done in building a market leading enterprise sales team that has helped the business transition out of COVID with momentum."

Kendall lauded the "growth mindset" Catalano brought to ACM, "rare in today's media landscape".

Having worked at ACM and its predecessors for 17 years, Duffy spoke of the new responsibilities her new role presents. "Tony and I have worked closely over the last 18 months and achieved many things, but we know what's on the horizon and we can't wait to get into 2021 leading this company together."
