America's News Media Alliance is campaigning to stop government from moving public notices away from newspapers, saying this is "like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse".

A series of advertisements (pictured) have been made available to publishers.

"When public notices reach the public, everyone benefits," the advertisements say. "Some officials want to move notices from newspapers to government-run websites, where they may not be easily found.

"This is like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse."

The free advertisements are available for download on the News Media Alliance website, with NMA membership not required.
