New roles as News shapes up digital sales capability

Two new appointments have been announced as News Corp Australia strengthens digital sales and marketing capabilities.

Neil Robinson returns to News and Lou Barrett has a new role, both aimed at enhancing its ability to deliver solutions for its commercial partners.

After two-and-a-half years in New York as chief revenue officer for Rokt, Robinson (right) returns to a new role as managing director, digital solutions, responsible for the company's evolving digital advertising proposition.

Specifically, he will lead News Corp Australia's programmatic division - its data targeting capability, News Connect; its commercial content capability; advancing its digital partnerships and will be responsible for driving the local performance of Unruly and Storyful.

Lou Barrett (left) has been promoted from executive general manager network sales to a new role as managing director, national sales, responsible for leading advertising sales divisions nationally, in addition to her responsibility for managing the needs of our national clients across print media, digital media and marketing services.

Since joining News 18 months ago, she has been instrumental in leading the transformation of the sales force to a client-first model.

Publishing chief operating officer Damian Eales says the two will create a formidable team. "Neil knows the Australian market well and will combine his local experience and global perspective to drive exciting and ambitious digital sales solutions for clients."

Robinson held various roles across a 13-year career in News Corp Australia's network advertising division and brings more than 20 years commercial leadership experience across the UK, Australia and the US. Prior to joining News in Sydney in 2001, he spent five years with News UK.

He will commence his role in Sydney in July and until then, will work on a part-time basis from New York.
