Developer takes over page planning as a service

What started as a pilot project for a daily newspaper publisher in Flensburg, Germany has turned into a regular production control service.

In effect ppi Media staff handle page planning changes notified by editorial staff of Schleswig-Holsteinischer Zeitungsverlag, using their own PlanPag software. Changes such as changing a part-page in a local edition or adapting common pages, are notified by phone or email.

The publisher - which has the highest circulation in Schleswig-Holstein - gains from a new cost-efficient hotline that complements support services and guarantees expert knowledge outside core working hours... on Mondays to Fridays from 6pm and on Sundays from 4pm.

SHZ had been using PlanPag for several years, a cooperation which meant that ppi Media was also very familiar with production workflows.

The production control hotline is now available to other publishers as a service module, easing pressure on evening shifts.
