A new editorial system for the Philippine Daily Inquirer will improve efficiency and profitability with the ability to share and publish content across group platforms and publications.

The Philippines publisher has signed with Dubai-headquartered Layout International for an implementation based on its NewsPublish system.

IT operations manager Noli Navarro says the implementation is a core building block of Inquirer's group transformation. "It will replace a number of older systems that we have and setup a technology infrastructure.

"This is fundamental in improving editorial efficiency and profitability now that content can be shared and published across platforms and all the publications of our roup."

A "digital-first" approach is key to the group's modernisation strategy, and will enable the publisher serve readers and advertisers better, "providing a deeper engagement in both content and products," according to associate publisher Juliet Javellana.

The order is one of several achieved by Layout International as it expands into Asia, where chief executive Jean-Michel Habis says a new support centre will enable dedicated and timely support to publishers in the region. Recent installations have included two in Malaysia in 2018 - at Karangkraf and

Star Media Group.

Star is using Layout's NewsPublish system and A7pro digital archiving to optimise production and accelerate its transformation into multiplatform and 'digital first' news publishing. Layout is also helping Sinar Harian publisher Karangkraf integrate its more than 17 websites and 11 print publications with the multilingual NewsPublish system.
