Indian speakers named for paper industry seminar

Speakers from International paper and ITC have joined the programme for RISI’s third Indian seminar.

President of International Paper, India, Paul Brown, and Sanjay Singh, who is divisional chief executive of ITC’s paperboards and specialty paper division will speak at the event in New Delhi on December 9.

Seminar chair Mark Rushton says he is pleased with the line up: “We look forward to hearing their expert opinions on the key issues facing the industry.”

In addition to Brown and Singh, speakers include:

• N Gopala Ratnam, chairman and managing director of Seshasayee Paper and Boards;

• P S Patwari, executive director of Emami Paper;

• VJ Gupta, managing director of DaiEi Paper (SA); and

• Madhukar Mishra, president of the Indian Paper Manufacturers Association.

Taking part from RISI are vice president/fibre practice leader Kurt Schaefer, mill intelligence vice president Surya Raina, and international timber director Bob Flynn.

Topics include sustainability issues in the global industry and how the Indian sector is playing its part, and the challenge of finding raw material supplies. The seminar will also discuss the global outlook for pulp and recovered paper markets, environmental pressures and responsible paper manufacturing, sustainable packaging solutions in India, development of forest plantations around the world for the pulp and paper industry, and the outlook for printing and writing paper markets in India.

An executive panel will provide a roundtable discussion with high level participants from major producer companies.
