German printer Weiss Druck is extending its use of dynamic cut-off register controls with anticipated waste savings of 70,000 Euros a year.

The Monschau company will add manroland closed-loop systems on a second Lithoman press. The parent of a group of 30 subsidiaries, it has 16 newspaper and commercial presses and 1,200 employees in print, printed products and media services roles.

‘Ideal’ savings of up to 50 per cent cut-off waste are claimed on reel changes and blanket washes, with saleable copies achieved earlier.

Operations manager Thomas Horst expects a return on investment within a year.
